Description:

1970 BMW R75/5 – Rolling Chassis

The /5 series is one of the most important chapters in BMW Motorrad history. Launched in 1969, these machines brought modern engineering to the boxer twin formula with improved electrics, better handling, and a refined engine that would anchor BMW motorcycles for decades. The earliest models, nicknamed 'Toasters' for their distinctive chrome knee pad inserts in the fuel tank side panels, have become particularly sought after among vintage BMW collectors worldwide.

This 1970 R75/5 is offered as a rolling chassis and it is presented honestly. Frame number 2970462 is clearly stamped and confirmed. The double-cradle steel frame is structurally sound with all engine mounting bosses intact. Front forks are fitted with original-style rubber gaiters. Both spoked wheels are present and reported in good condition. Twin rear shock absorbers are in place. The final drive with a 32/10 differential ratio and driveshaft are included per the vendor.

The fuel tank is fitted and painted black, retaining the correct Toaster body shape, though the chrome knee pad inserts are no longer fitted. A two-piece seat is in place with a US cruiser-style cover that the vendor notes can be re-trimmed to original specification. The headlight shell is mounted. The front fender is not present.

What is not included: engine, gearbox, exhaust system, instruments, wiring harness, or front fender. The fuel cap is also absent. This is a bare rolling chassis, nothing more and nothing less.

VIN: 2970462. No key.

For the right restorer, this is exactly how you start a proper R75/5 project. The bones are solid, the frame is straight, and the core rolling components are accounted for. Source a matching numbers engine and gearbox, add chrome toaster panels, instruments, and wiring, and you have the basis for a stunning machine.
