Description:

1976 Honda CB750A

Here is something genuinely rare in the CB750 world. While Honda sold hundreds of thousands of the standard CB750 through the 1970s, the CB750A Hondamatic was a brave engineering experiment that most collectors have never actually seen in the metal. Honda fitted an automatic torque converter transmission to the iconic 750cc inline-four engine, eliminating the clutch entirely and replacing the standard tachometer with a unique instrument panel showing L (Low), D (Drive), Neutral, and Parking indicators. Fewer were sold than Honda hoped, and that is exactly why serious collectors hunt them now.

This 1976 example is finished in a striking lime green metallic that absolutely pops, and the chrome is in exceptional condition across the board. Headers, fenders, mirrors, grab rail, and luggage rack are all bright and unmarked. The inline-four sits clean in the frame with no visible oil staining. The carburettors are in place with all connections intact.

The odometer shows 14,435 miles, genuinely low for a fifty-year-old machine. The paint has excellent gloss and depth throughout. The seat retains its original diamond quilting pattern without tears or splits. The unique Hondamatic instrument cluster is undamaged and the emergency kick starter stowed under the seat remains with the bike. A carry rack is already fitted, and a new battery has been installed. Electrics are reported to be in working order.

Typres will need replacing before riding, as the vendor openly states. Everything else presents like a time capsule. This is a serious collector piece for the CB750 faithful or anyone who wants something genuinely different from the standard superbike field.

VIN: CB750A-7002085. Engine No: CB750AE-7002151.
