Description:

1974 Ford XB Fairmont

A classic Australian full-size sedan finished in Emerald Fire, showing an indicated 372,481 miles. Powered by a 302ci (4.9-litre) V8 petrol engine paired with an automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels in true Ford tradition.

Presented as a completely original example and accompanied by a Ford report, this XB Fairmont retains its factory configuration and has not been modified from standard spec. The model offered a more premium trim level than the Falcon of the same era, delivering additional comfort features and higher-grade interior appointments.

Ford XB Fairmont Model History

Released in 1973, the XB series marked the mid-cycle update of the XA range and introduced significant styling refinements including a revised front end with integrated indicators and a broader rear treatment. The XB was also the model chosen by Ford for its locally developed GT Hardtop that later achieved legendary status in racing and popular culture. The Fairmont variant offered an upscale alternative to the Falcon sedan, targeting buyers who wanted performance with added refinement. Today, XB models remain desirable among collectors for their iconic 1970s Australian styling and strong mechanical simplicity.
