Originally built at Holden’s Dandenong plant in November 1977, this car began life as an L32 253ci V8 with a Tri-Matic automatic and 2.78 Banjo differential, finished in Atlantis Blue with slate black cloth trim. It has since undergone a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment, transforming it into a striking mild custom SS-style hatch.
Holden Torana LX Model History
Released in 1976, the LX Torana introduced several refinements over the earlier LH series, including updated interiors, revised suspension tuning, and improved safety features. It also saw the debut of the legendary A9X option package in 1977—an evolution of the L34 that delivered substantial improvements for Group C racing. While the A9X was produced in very limited numbers, its widebody flares, bonnet scoop and aggressive stance became iconic, inspiring countless tribute builds. Today, the LX Torana—particularly in hatchback form—remains one of the most desirable Australian muscle cars, celebrated for its motorsport pedigree and unmistakable styling.
