Description
The VR Statesman was Holden's flagship luxury sedan in the mid-90s, and this one comes in white over velour as every good Statesman should. It is running the 3.8L Buick-derived V6 (L27) with the 4-speed automatic and the full factory Statesman luxury package: climate control, trip computer, power everything and those genuinely lovely lion-crest door cards on all four doors. All four door cards are in good condition and the dash is uncracked, which is a real positive for these era Holdens.
Important disclosure upfront. The odometer is not functioning and displays no reading at all, so true kilometres are completely unknown. Price and bid with that in mind. The compliance plate confirms the car was built November 1994 at Elizabeth, South Australia. Worth checking with your insurer or registration authority if that distinction matters to you.
The engine bay is reasonably tidy with no obvious leaks. The 3.8L V6 presents cleanly with the red 3800 intake cover in place. The air con has been converted to R134a refrigerant. Factory 15-inch alloy wheels are fitted with all four Holden lion centre caps. The boot is clean with no rust or water ingress.
There are several things that need attention before this car is at its best. The headliner has sagged throughout the roof (very common on VR/VS era cars, around $200-$400 to rectify). The steering wheel leather is worn and cracking at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. An aftermarket head unit has replaced the original Delco unit. The ABS warning light is illuminated, indicating a system fault. At least one tyre shows sidewall cracking and should be replaced before road use. Minor surface rust is present on the lower edge of the rear bumper.
