Description & Craftsmanship

This masterpiece depicts a majestic, multi tiered traditional Chinese dragon boat with intricate openwork carving throughout. The scale, complexity, and precision demonstrate the highest level of traditional Chinese jade carving artistry.

Provenance & Historical Context

Created during the lead up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this piece embodies the surge of national pride and cultural celebration that defined the Games. It draws inspiration from the Chong Yang Festival (Double Ninth Festival), a traditional Chinese festival associated with longevity, good fortune, and mountain climbing, themes beautifully integrated into this grand dragon boat composition. While not an officially licensed Olympic product, it was produced as a significant commemorative work during that historic period.

Condition: Excellent, as expected for a monumental commissioned carving of this calibre. Presented on a substantial custom wooden base.

This is a rare, one-of-a-kind statement piece suitable for private collectors, corporate collections, museums, or luxury interiors. Such large scale single block jade carvings of this magnitude are exceptionally scarce on the international market.

A true masterpiece of contemporary Chinese jade art.
