Description:

1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible - Blue - Automatic - Classic American Muscle

Overview

The 1973 Corvette Stingray represents the final year of the C3 generation's first iteration, a pivotal moment in American automotive history. This was the last Corvette before the 1974 model year introduced significant changes, making 1973 examples increasingly sought after by collectors. The Stingray nameplate itself carries legendary status, synonymous with Chevrolet's commitment to high-performance sports car engineering. This particular example is finished in striking blue with a convertible body, offering the quintessential open-air driving experience that defined the era. The automatic transmission variant appeals to a broad spectrum of enthusiasts, from daily drivers to collectors seeking accessible classic motoring without the demands of manual operation.

This 1973 Stingray presents as a well-maintained example of the breed. The blue paintwork holds good gloss across visible panels with the characteristic depth expected of period finishes. The convertible top mechanism is present and the body lines remain clean and straight. The interior trim presents in tan leather with visible patina consistent with the vehicle's age and use. Chrome detailing and trim pieces show appropriate aging with no obvious corrosion. The distinctive Stingray badging and body styling cues remain intact and legible. Mechanically, the automatic transmission represents the smooth, effortless operation that appeals to drivers seeking classic character without complexity. The engine bay displays the original engine number T1022619, confirming authenticity of the original powerplant.

1973 Corvette Stingrays occupy a unique position in the classic market. This was the final year before significant regulatory and design changes reshaped the model. Original examples, particularly in desirable colours and with matching numbers, command strong interest from serious collectors. The convertible body style and automatic transmission combination makes this a more accessible entry point into Corvette ownership compared to rare manual variants. Current market guidance for comparable 1973 Stingray examples ranges from AUD $45,000 to $65,000 depending on condition and originality, with well-presented examples consistently attracting competitive bidding.
