Mixed Mineral and Crystal Specimen Collection - Raw and Rough Cut

Lot Description: A curated collection of raw and rough-cut mineral specimens featuring a diverse range of geological formations and crystal structures. This lot comprises approximately 40+ individual pieces displaying varied mineralogical compositions, crystal habits, and colour variations.

Specimen Categories Included:

The collection features three distinct groupings:

Group 1 - Mixed Raw Minerals (Approximately 25+ pieces): A varied assortment of tan, golden, and grey-toned specimens with visible crystalline structures. Many pieces display characteristic striations and natural cleavage planes. Specimens range from small thumbnail-sized pieces to larger hand specimens, with several showing well-defined geometric crystal faces and natural terminations. Colour palette includes pale golden, honey-brown, translucent cream, and grey tones with darker mineral inclusions.

Group 2 - Dark Metallic Specimens (Approximately 10-12 pieces): A collection of polished and raw dark specimens with lustrous, reflective surfaces. These pieces display deep charcoal to jet-black colouration with visible metallic sheen. Several specimens show evidence of natural fracturing and angular break patterns. Sizes range from small nugget-like pieces to larger hand specimens. Surface characteristics include striations, natural weathering, and crystalline faceting.

Group 3 - Larger Display Specimens (4 pieces): Four substantial specimens featuring mixed mineralogy with contrasting dark and light phases. These pieces display complex crystal structures with visible banding, layering, and mineral associations. Specimens show natural weathering patterns, oxidation marks, and varied surface textures. Colours range from pale golden-tan to deep charcoal with intermediate grey tones.

Physical Characteristics:

Crystal Systems: Multiple crystal systems represented, including orthorhombic and monoclinic forms

Lustre: Vitreous to metallic across the collection

Cleavage: Natural cleavage planes visible on numerous specimens

Hardness: Appears consistent with mid-range hardness minerals (Mohs 4-7 estimated)

Transparency: Ranging from transparent to translucent to opaque

Surface Condition: Natural weathering, some specimens show oxidation patina

Condition Notes:

All specimens are in natural, unpolished state except where noted. Pieces show authentic geological weathering and natural fracture patterns. No evidence of artificial treatment or enhancement observed. Minor surface dust and natural oxidation present. Specimens are structurally sound with no significant damage noted.

Lot Composition:

Approximate count: 40+ individual specimens

Size range: 1 cm to 8 cm across largest dimension

Total lot weight: Approximately 2-3 kg (estimated)

Origin: Unknown - appears to be a mixed collection from various sources

Suitability:

This collection is suitable for mineral enthusiasts, geology students, collectors of natural specimens, educational institutions, or those seeking authentic raw mineral examples for display or study purposes. The variety of crystal structures and mineral types makes this an excellent reference collection.

Important Notes:

Specimens are sold as pictured. Exact mineral identification would require professional geological analysis. No certificates of authenticity provided. Lot is sold as a complete collection - no splitting available. Buyer to inspect prior to bidding. All items are natural geological specimens with inherent variations in colour, size, and crystal development.
