Description:

1974 Mercedes-Benz 280E W114 Saloon - Pale Yellow - 72,125km - M110 2.8L Twin-Cam Inline-Six, Automatic - Original Documents, Towbar

4-door W114 Saloon; rear-wheel drive; 2.8L M110 twin-cam inline-six; 72,125km; original owner's manual, service documentation and first aid kit present.

Overview

The Mercedes-Benz W114 is the car that defined premium European motoring for much of the 1970s. Known among enthusiasts as the /8 (Strich-Acht), the platform ran from 1968 to 1976 and set standards for build quality, engineering refinement and longevity that few manufacturers have since matched. The 280E is the most desirable W114 variant, using the twin-cam M110 2.8-litre inline-six in a rear-wheel-drive chassis.

This 1974 example is finished in pale yellow with a tan leather interior, an original factory specification that suits the /8 perfectly. The pale yellow paint holds excellent colour saturation across all visible panels and the body presents straight and honest. At 72,125 kilometres on the original odometer, this is a genuine low-mileage survivor. The car's history is supported by the original owner's manual (covering the 250, 280, 280E and 280CE variants), what appears to be original service documentation, and the original period German first aid kit, all of which have been photographed with the car. A towbar has been fitted, adding practical versatility.

Comparable W114 280E examples in good condition with documentation have been offered at $12,000 to $20,000 on the Australian market. With 72,000km and an intact history, this example represents compelling value at current bidding.
