Description:

1941 DKW NZ350 - Dark Grey - 343cc Two-Stroke - Wehrmacht Despatch Motorcycle - Full Pannier Set

A genuine WWII-era German military motorcycle with factory data plate, original panniers, and the kind of documented authenticity that serious military collectors spend years searching for.

Overview

The DKW NZ350 was the Wehrmacht's single-cylinder workhorse. Produced by Auto Union AG in Chemnitz, it served German despatch riders, couriers, and military units across every theatre of the Second World War, from the Western Front to the Eastern Front and North Africa. Of all the military motorcycles of the era, the NZ350 is arguably the most historically documented, appearing in thousands of period photographs and preserved in collections and museums worldwide.

This 1941 example, chassis number 549612, retains its original factory data plate: an Auto Union AG, Chemnitz-issued plate confirming the DKW marque, the chassis number, 145 kg gross vehicle weight, and the 343cc displacement. The Auto Union four-ring speedometer reads effectively zero, consistent with a thorough restoration. The dark grey matte finish is appropriate to the military specification of the era.

What makes this example particularly compelling is the completeness of the original accessory fit. Both pressed-steel military panniers are present, with the latch mechanism operational and the interiors intact. The Pagusa solo saddle is correct for the model. The pressed-steel side toolbox is present and shows the original orange-painted interior with period fittings. The wooden handlebar grips are period-correct. This is not a stripped-back example, it is a complete, accessorised despatch motorcycle presented in military configuration.
