Description:

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Drag Car - Red - 355ci Supercharged V8 - Powerglide Automatic

Overview

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback has been purpose-built as a dedicated drag racing machine, combining the timeless styling of the first-generation Mustang with a professionally engineered race chassis and an uncompromising high-performance drivetrain. Built for straight-line performance rather than street use, this Mustang features a full Chris Alston race chassis, lightweight competition setup and a supercharged fuel-injected small-block Ford V8 delivering serious horsepower potential.

Finished in bright red with white Shelby-style racing stripes, the Mustang presents with an unmistakable race car stance. The body sits low over Centre Line racing wheels wrapped in drag slicks, while the large bonnet-mounted intake announces the vehicle's purpose immediately. The lightweight interior has been stripped and configured specifically for competition, with seating for two and race-prepared controls throughout. Overall presentation reflects a purpose-built drag car that has clearly benefited from significant investment in quality components.

The vendor advises the engine is a fuel-injected 355 cubic inch Ford small-block built using a Dart block and has completed only run-in hours since construction. Internal components include a moly crankshaft, Highbeam connecting rods, AFR cylinder heads fitted with Jesel roller rockers, and a new Vortech V7 supercharger. Power is transferred through a Powerglide automatic transmission fitted with a transbrake and a Mark Williams rear end, while Wilwood brakes provide stopping performance. The combination of premium driveline components and professionally engineered chassis makes this a serious drag racing package.

Condition

The vehicle presents as a purpose-built competition car rather than a restored road vehicle. The exterior paint retains good gloss overall, with the vendor advising there are minor paint and panel imperfections visible (refer to photographs). The race chassis, driveline and suspension components appear professionally installed, while the lightweight race interior is configured for competition use. Buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle thoroughly to satisfy themselves regarding the build quality, specifications and suitability for their intended use.
