Keith Namatjira (1938-1977) was a watercolour artist from the Western Arrernte people and a member of the Namatjira family, working in the Hermannsburg School tradition established by his celebrated relative Albert Namatjira. The Hermannsburg School produced some of the most distinctive Australian landscape watercolours of the 20th century, combining Western watercolour technique with an intimate knowledge of the Central Australian landscape. Keith Namatjira's work has been the subject of documented auction sales across Australia and is represented in the Australian Art Sales Digest.

This work depicts a classic Central Australian landscape: a white ghost gum tree at left with a split trunk, set against an arid ochre plain with scattered desert scrub and a range of purple-blue mountains filling the background horizon. The composition is characteristic of the Hermannsburg School style, with confident washes for the mountain range and sky, detailed rendering of the ghost gum bark, and warm red-orange earth tones in the foreground. Signed lower right in pencil: "Keith Namatjira."

Presented in a natural honey-toned timber frame under glass. Dimensions are approximate and should be confirmed prior to bidding. No art centre documentation is present; buyers are advised to conduct their own research regarding provenance.
