1969 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible - Silver - 1600cc Air-Cooled Flat-Four - Brand New Soft Top

1969 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, air-cooled flat-four, 4-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, silver, right-hand drive.

Description

The Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is the open-air version of one of the most beloved cars ever built. The Karmann-built cabriolet bodies are rarer than the standard coupe and command a consistent premium among Beetle enthusiasts. This 1969 example, the last year of the original Type 1 body before the 1302 arrived, presents in silver with a brand new black soft top that is the highlight of the listing. The hood is fitted and looks excellent against the silver bodywork, with clean lines and good tension across the roof.

The silver paint shows its age with the honest patina of a classic that has seen some kilometres, with no major damage visible on the panels. The panels are straight and well-aligned. The bumpers are largely intact. A pair of aftermarket polished alloy wheels replaces the original steel rims, giving the car a slightly sportier stance than stock. The rear engine lid carries the period-correct VW 1500 badge in chrome. The engine bay houses the air-cooled flat four with an aftermarket air filter and Bosch fuel and ignition components. The engine bay floor and surround show surface rust consistent with the vehicle's age, visible in photos. The VW factory plate in the boot tunnel confirms chassis number 1191064464.

Inside, the cabin carries its period character. The front seats are in black and the floor has rubber mats. A wood-rim aftermarket steering wheel is fitted. The original-style instrument cluster retains the period VW speedometer, which the photos show at 95,336km (the listing states 53,339km, and buyers should confirm the current reading at inspection). A Pioneer head unit replaces the original radio. Period-style wicker parcel shelf trim is fitted to the dashboard. Pioneer speakers are fitted in the door cards. The rear seat is in black. The new soft top completes a car that, while not concours, has genuine character and a clear path to a good driver-standard outcome.
