About the Barchetta
The Fiat Barchetta is one of those cars that makes you smile every time you drive it. Designed by Andreas Zapatinas and launched in 1995, the name means "little boat" in Italian, a nod to the way this lightweight two-seater sits low and skims along a winding road. Production ran to 2005 with around 57,000 units built, almost all left-hand drive for European markets. Right-hand drive examples were produced specifically for Japan and the United Kingdom, making them significantly rarer than the standard model. This 1998 example carries confirmed Japanese import history, with a Japanese oil service sticker still present in the cabin and the original factory build plate showing VIN ZFA183000000032379 and engine code 183A1.000.
Power comes from the 1.8-litre 16-valve four-cylinder petrol engine, badged "FIAT 16v VFD Barchetta" on the cam cover, producing 130 horsepower in a car that tips the scales at just over 1,060kg.
