Description
The Honda Super Cub is the best-selling motorised vehicle in history, and that reputation was earned in exactly this form. The C65 of the early-to-mid 1970s represents the platform at its most refined: the 65cc horizontal single-cylinder four-stroke engine, the step-through pressed-steel frame, the semi-enclosed bodywork, and the simple manual transmission that makes it accessible to anyone. First sold here in the late 1960s, the Cub became a fixture in Australian garages, farms, newsagencies and backyards. Low-mileage survivors are becoming genuinely hard to find.
This 1975 example shows 9,226 miles on the original Nippon Seiki mechanical speedometer, which converts to approximately 14,850 kilometres. The chassis number C65YA085705 is stamped clearly into the frame and the engine casting displays the original oil specification markings in crisp detail. Most significantly, the original New South Wales registration label, dated December 1975, is still fitted in the original plate holder on the left side of the frame. That label, registration number 019441, links this Cub to its registered life in NSW and is the kind of period provenance detail that restorers and collectors both value.
The two-tone blue and white bodywork is original throughout. The powder blue steel fenders and frame retain their original colour. The white leg shields and side panels display age-appropriate surface fading and patina consistent with a 51-year-old machine that has not been repainted. The original "Honda 65" side panel decals are present. The chrome rear carrier rack is intact, the chrome muffler retains its shape with light tarnishing, and both drum brakes are complete. The Nippon Seiki speedo and the period-correct knobby-style tyres all add to the time-capsule character. Vendor advises the key is present.
