Description:

PERSIAN BAKHTIARI KHESHTI RUG

A Persian Bakhtiari Kheshti Rug Is A Hand-Knotted Tribal Masterpiece Featuring A Distinct Garden-Panel Design. Woven By The Bakhtiari Nomads And Villagers Of The Zagros Mountains (Primarily In The Chaharmahal And Bakhtiari Province Of Iran), These Rugs Divide The Field Into Symmetrical Square Or Rectangular Compartments That Resemble A Formal Persian Paradise Garden Split By Water Channels. The Panel Layout (Kheshti): The Main Field Is Split Into A Grid Of Independent Squares Or Bricks. Motifs: Each Individual Panel Contains Repeating Or Alternating Motifs, Such As Weeping Cypresses (Sarv), Flowering Shrubs, Vases, Birds, And Sometimes Animals Like Lions Or Deer. Made Using Thick, Locally Sourced, Handspun Wool. Bakhtiari Wool Is Famous For Being Sturdy, Dense, And Resilient Against Heavy Foot Traffic. Traditional Pieces Rely Entirely On Natural Vegetable Dyes Derived From Plants, Roots (Like Madder), And Minerals, Giving The Colors A Rich, Organic Depth That Patinas Gracefully Over Time. Size(Cm): 268X120. Circa 1980S. Rrp:$ 4800
